Power DPS-Class Guide

The power- is an easy to learn build that does not require elite specialization. It is characterized by its rather simple gameplay and the additional support options.

The guardian is very easy to learn, but needs a lot of experience and practice to perfect, because your damage depends on many factors. This is among others:

-Uptime

of some skills

Due to the heavy dependency of a good uptime, the is not suitable for many bosses, as you can lose your quite quickly.

In this guide, you’ll find all the important tips to make raiding in Guild Wars 2 with the easier.

We’ll not only cover the basic mechanics of the class, but also advanced class mechanics and rotations to help you understand the at the end of this guide!

Things I need to pay attention to:

What do I have to look out for as to get the best possible damage out of my class?

A good rotation is always a very important factor for good damage, but there are other factors to consider when playing the .

The &B3ACAAA= trait gives you a 20% damage increase if you have a active! This is your most important DMG modifier, but also very difficult to maintain (depending on the boss).

For this reason it is very important as to know the attacks and the behaviour of the respective boss exactly, so that you don’t lose your unnecessarily.

If you lose your due to attacks or similar, use &Bp4jAAA= or &BnwjAAA= to get it back.

Depending on the boss, you may need to decide whether your uptime is good enough without &BnwjAAA= if you don’t have this skill.

If you have more than one or in your squad, you can coordinate and try to maximize the uptime together! This is especially often the case in organized groups!

gives you a massive DMG gain of 10%! You can get this gain through the trait &BzUCAAA= by having only active on you. There are many ways to get a good to very good uptime.

Starting with the &BrojAAA= which gives you retaliation as long as it is active. You will also receive through the &B1wCAAA= trait whenever you activate one of your Virtues. Since this is a permanent feature of your rotation (see the Core build), you have another reliable source.

In addition, the &Bz4CAAA= trait will give you when you activate a healing skill. However, this trait should only be used in an absolute emergency if your uptime is very bad, as you will then lose &BzYCAAA= and its benefits.

Also other classes give you or extend it.

The extends your with &BvwnAAA= very often during a fight.

A will also distribute to its subgroup when it switches to &BoKjAAA= legend. Since this happens very quickly at the beginning of each battle, you will have a very good uptime by combining:

Virtues + + &BvwnAAA=

Of course the -Uptime will also increase by several or with &BrojAAA= in your subgroup.

&B+EHAAA=

A simple but nevertheless important trait is &B+EHAAA=. For each active symbol you stand in, you will receive one stack of that buff for each tick of the symbol.

Each stack gives you 2% more damage and is stackable up to 5 stacks. Therefore you should always start your bursts under the effect of 5 stacks. Once you have 5 stacks, you’ll be able to keep them up for the rest of the fight (if you have a good rotation) if theres no boss phase.

If you are unable to attack the boss, or if you are not attacking and waiting, try casting your symbols on the ground to maintain 5 stacks. Because as soon as the boss is attackable again, you want to start with 5 stacks!

&B1sCAAA=

This trait also gives you a massive 10% DMG boost for 6 seconds after you activate a virtue.

This is the reason why you keep your &BpsjAAA= and &BqAjAAA= almost permanently on cool down in your rotation.

You want to start and end your bursts always under the influence of this boost! Please note that you will only use &Bp4jAAA= as an additional DPS-Increase if you make sure that you keep your in this phase!

Stowing weapon

“Stowing your weapon” is a way to pull or stow your weapons at the touch of a button.

However, this is not the only effect of this button: Once you press “Put Weapon away”, 95% of all skills in the game will be interrupted immediately, regardless of whether you have already activated them.

Experienced players can take advantage of this by using the key to interrupt the aftercast on various skills.

The “aftercast” is the time that an animation of the skill lasts (usually a few milliseconds). At this point, the skill is already finished, so it does no more damage.

This way you can bypass the short waiting time of the aftercast and activate the next skill directly. The most important skills with a longer aftercast are &BrojAAA= and &BrsjAAA=.

Both are interrupted with “Stow weapon” immediately after they have been activated. This means, you press e.g. &BrojAAA= and directly after that “Stow weapon” to interrupt the aftercast.

This takes some practice until you get the hang of it, but you will be rewarded with a significant increase in DPS because you can execute your rotation faster than others . On the golem this difference is usually around 1,000 – 1,500 DPS.

General Gameplay Tips

As already mentioned in the section “Stow weapon” it is a big DPS-Increase you should use this trick on the skills &BrojAAA= and &BrsjAAA=!

Make sure that you do not cancel your &BpgjAAA= with &BokjAAA=!

Always use &BnkjAAA= in the opponent’s hitbox so that all projectiles hit the opponent!

A very important and also quite useful skill is &BnojAAA=. Apart from great damage when it explodes (if not all stacks have disappeared), it can also block up to three attacks, which an experienced can use for their advantage! But you should be careful not to waste all stacks, otherwise this skill will not explode and do its damage!

A big mistake of many -players is to use &BnojAAA= as first skill when they start a boss battle (like on the golem). This is a big DPS loss because in most cases, &BnojAAA= will explode if you don’t have a full 25 yet! Accordingly it is recommended to delay &BnojAAA= a little bit so that it explodes with 25 !

One of the most important and strongest DMG skills is &BrsjAAA=. Many don’t use it properly in certain situations, which leads to a big DPS loss.

The skill works like this: You turn once in a circle and one (or more) projectiles (swords) will fly towards the boss. The moment you activate this skill, one sword per enemy (max 5) in a 600 radius around you will create a sword that will fly towards these enemies (which you can theoretically use to pull them when you hit them).

However, there is a little trick that will lead to a massive DPS-Increase. If you are in your opponent’s hitbox, there are multiple opponents (max 5) around him and you now use &BrsjAAA=, a maximum of 5 swords will be created, trying to reach the targets. Since you are inside the boss hitbox, all your 5 projectiles hit the boss, which is a very strong DPS boost.

Therefore it is sometimes useful to delay &BrsjAAA= and only use it when enemies are nearby, like (Seeker) or (Caterpillars)

Sword vs. Scepter

For the there are two main weapon options for the second weapon set, the scepter and the sword. While the sword has a much better burst damage and continuous damage, the scepter is much more beginner friendly and has a slightly easier rotation. If you are more experienced, you can directly play with sword, which is the stronger build!

The sword build has two disadvantages:

You can’t attack a distant target that’s not in your melee range and you’re forced to wait until you can attack it! Therefore, it is highly recommended to play scepter if you need to attack from a distance in an encounter (as in range tactic). If this is not the case, and you can attack the boss most of the time, you should play Sword!
In the sword rotation you start on your sword weapon set, so you won’t get the of your &BrojAAA= directly!
With &BpsjAAA= and &BqAjAAA= you will get some , and in most cases this will be extended by the and the . This means you normally don’t have to worry about !
If you do, you can take the &Bz4CAAA= (DPS loss) trait and press your healing skill at the beginning of the fight!

Bosses where you can play with scepter:

(Of course the sword set is still better! But the difference is small)

in addition to range attacks during the stack mechanics or during the start of the last phase, you can also immobilize rigom with &BosjAAA= !

here it can sometimes happen that you can’t attack the boss because he’s standing in a black field!

If you need to place one of the 5 pillars, you can continue attacking from a distance.

Important Skills

&Bh0kAAA= is the third utility skill of the in the standard build next to &BtAjAAA= and &BoUjAAA=. This skill increases your damage only slightly and should be replaced first if you need another skill like &BnwjAAA= or &BsEjAAA=.

&BqBUAAA= is by far your best heal-skill you can use as ! You heal yourself based on a percentage of the damage you deal. Since dps is very high, this skill is comparable to an Insta-Full-Heal! It can also be used to avoid ticking damage (such as circle) for a short time!

&Bo4jAAA= can be a very useful heal skill if you need additional blocks, as it blocks all attacks for 2 seconds!

&BsEjAAA= should be used if your uptime is very low! It gives you and , which can be very useful in many cases!

&BnwjAAA= should only be used if your uptime is low and good positioning aswell as &Bp4jAAA= is not enough! But you can also take &BnwjAAA= if you don’t feel safe enough and have a back-up !

&Bg11AAA= serves as additional and source for your subgroup! Since you don’t have an elite that will give you further damage, this is the best alternative!

&Bv12AAA= is an alternative to &Bg11AAA=. If your group has enough and , you can play with this signet, which will also heal your group and increase the &AgEEYQAA uptime!

&BoUjAAA= is the strongest CC skill you have as ! It should only be used in emergency situations or if you play with &B0MCAAA=!

Signet Share

Using the &B0MCAAA= trait, you can distribute the passive effect of a sigil to your allies for 10 seconds after actively using that sigil!

Why do this?

The active effect of &BoUjAAA=, when you activate the sigil, deals 300 damage, which is quite a lot.

Therefore, if your party needs help with the CC, or you are generally fighting a CC heavy boss, such as

or

take this trait with you!

If you play with &B0MCAAA=, you will lose the &B5MGAAA=, which gives you a lot of precision. It is therefore recommended that you play a different gear set, otherwise you will lose a lot of damage. See overview, Signet-Share-Build.

Try to cast your signet towards the end of a CC bar, so that your party can benefit from the active effect of the signet for as long as possible.

Note: Due to a bug, this Signet -Share does not work as well as it should. Once you activate your sigil, you will lose all (!) sigils (of the same type) that are currently on you. This means that if you have received a stack of a Bane Signet from another guardian, you will immediately lose it again if you press your Signet.

For example: 4 activate their sigil. After each guardian has activated the seal, not every will have 4 stacks as normally assumed, but: 1 1 stack, 2 2 stacks, 3 3 stacks and 4 4 stacks. So the person who activates his signet the earliest will have the most stacks in the end

    General Tips

Use &BnkjAAA= and &BrsjAAA= always in the of the to maximize damage. &BrsjAAA= should only be used after all three s are a maximum of 1,200 units away from you, so that you get all hits on as long as you are in its . You must be careful that your is not taken down by an auto attack from .

Be careful not to attack the in phases 2 and 3 too soon, as it will be for a few moments first! This could swallow important skills from you, such as &BpgjAAA= or &BtAjAAA=.

Also, you should save &BqBUAAA= for the moment by exploding a green field so that you can heal up immediately and have a very good &AgEEYQAA uptime.

Do not start directly with &BnojAAA=, but wait a few seconds until you have something ! Otherwise this skill will explode with hardly any on you and cause very little damage!

    Split Phase:

Since you are playing with &Bg11AAA=, you can enable &Bg11AAA= in each split phase to support your group with additional !

If a green field explodes shortly before the split phase, you can use &BqAjAAA= to heal your group a little bit.

Try adjusting your rotation so that you can use &BrsjAAA= for the CC. If the CC is still not enough, use &BoUjAAA=, but this is a huge DPS loss for you! Use &BpsjAAA= in the split phase to increase your damage!

    Uptime:

The following attacks can cause you to lose your :

    • Auto attacks of the
    • CC attack of the , where it shoots projectiles on the ground!
    • AoE circle
    • Auto attack of the Guardian in the Split Phase
    • Blue portfields

This sounds like a lot, but it’s quite easy to get around most of it if the group damage and CC are good! The auto attack of the , as well as the CC projectiles can be easily avoided by good positioning. The same applies to the -AoE and the port fields, where you should never stand anyway.

For this reason it is quite easy to maintain a good uptime. If you lose use &Bp4jAAA=. For an additional aegis swap&Bh0kAAA= with &BnwjAAA=!

  • Gorseval the Multifarious

    Health: 21628200

    General Tips

Use &BnwjAAA= or &Bp4jAAA= after each attack to get back immediately! However, if you don’t have either of these two skills ready, it’s recommended that you simply change this to , otherwise you’ll lose too much DMG through the trait &B3ACAAA=.

Even with , you should still use &BrsjAAA= in its , when additional enemies are in range. For this boss, it is the spirits after the CC.

Here sticks its arms into the ground and raises them again (symbolically it wants to dig something up), then the spirits appear. It is very possible that this may not always match your &BrsjAAA= if you are doing a normal golem rotation. So here is the tip:

Delay your &BrsjAAA= until the spirits appear, BUT NOT the whole rotation. So you shouldn’t wait forever on the greatsword, but continue your rotation with sword/focus and co. as usual.

You can easily use &Bg11AAA= at the beginning of the battle to support your party with additional ! This skill will be ready again in time for the beginning of the split phase!

During ‘s CC, it is highly recommended that you use &BqBUAAA= so that you can continue your normal rotation without damage, as this will heal you immensely.

For additional CC you can play with &B0MCAAA= to activate your &BoUjAAA= at each CC bar! This not only has the advantage that you can contribute some CC, but also buffs your group for a short time, ideally for the rest of the DPS phase!

    Split Phase

Even with you save your skills in the split phases. Use all your DPS skills to kill spirits as quickly as possible.

To get to the spirit or back to faster you can use &BngjAAA= or &BokjAAA=!

Enable &Bg11AAA= in the split to be able to maintain in the split!

Always use &BpsjAAA= in the split phase to increase your damage!

If your group needs help with the orbs you can destroy one or more orbs in no time with &BoIjAAA=! To do this you’ll have to replace your sword with a scepter!

    -Uptime:

The following attacks can cause you to lose your :

    • The auto attack
    • attack
    • Kicks, auto attacks or AoEs of the adds that spawns after the CC phase

Since the attack can only be negated by a without using , it makes sense to play here with &BnwjAAA= for additional uptime!

Also make sure that you’re not in front of at the beginning of the fight or after the end of the split phase and thus get hit by his auto-attack!

    General Tips:

Use &BngjAAA= or &BokjAAA= to get the poison out faster or to get back to faster.

By far the most important skill for is your &BrsjAAA=. You can use these for every slubling wave (every 30 sec.) after they have been pulled into the group! You may need to delay your rotation for this, but this is more than useful as you can do this every 30 seconds, which can give you a massive DPS increase.

Never try to stand in front of , and always move around it, when it casts attacks like Flame Breath, so you don’t lose your .

If you plan on skipping the 10% shake, save your &BqAjAAA= for the end so you can get the best burst possible and keep the 10% buff on you for as long as possible!

For these bosses, you should play with &B0MCAAA= to activate your &BoUjAAA= for each and buff your group at the same time!

You should make sure that you activate your &BoUjAAA= at the end of the so that the group can keep the &BoUjAAA=-buff as long as possible!

&BrsjAAA= you can also use almost any to help with the CC, depending on the rotation. Furthermore you can use &BngjAAA= if there are lightning fields below you (usually by or ) to create an additional CC through the Jump Finisher!

    – Uptime

Through the following attacks you can lose your :

    • auto attack
    • Tantrum ( attack)
    • Flame breath
    • Shake
    • Slubling Projectiles
    • Poison fields

It is quite difficult to maintain a good uptime on , but it is possible with good positioning! Still you should play with &BnwjAAA= for extra !

Most of the attacks like his auto attack the Tantrum, the Flame Breath and the Poison Fields can be avoided by simple positioning.

The slublings should be swept directly into the group, so they won’t be a problem for you and the rest of the group. Only the shake needs to be done with two very well timed s so you don’t lose your . It is recommended to stand in the and into and back again.

Also save &BqBUAAA= for the Jade Soldier spawn, so you don’t lose &AgEEYQAA uptime!

Otherwise, this boss is practically a golem that won’t hurt you. So make sure to have the best possible golem rotation!

    General Tips

You have to adjust your rotation very much depending on how fast your group is. In particular, be careful not to start your burst rotation when is about to enter a CC phase.

During the split phase, you must be careful not to get the aggro from Guldhelm, as he will beat you constantly and destroy your .

With this boss you should play with &B0MCAAA= to be able to activate your &BoUjAAA= for every other second (depending on the groups DPS) and to buff your group at the same time!

You should make sure that you activate your &BoUjAAA= at the end of the so that the group can keep the &BoUjAAA= buff on itself as long as possible!

&BrsjAAA= can also be used to help with the CC depending on the rotation. You can also use &BngjAAA= if you have lightning fields below you (usually by or to create an additional CC through the Jump Finisher.

You can also swap &Bh0kAAA= for &BqUjAAA= to add more CC to the group.

    -Uptime

The following attacks can cause you to lose your :

    • auto attack
    • attack
    • attack
    • The shockwave
    • The AoE circle of the spear

All attacks of can be easily avoided by good positioning, because they have a very clear and slow cast time.

You should skip the shockwave and logically stay away from the red AoE circles of spears.

Therefore it is relatively easy to maintain your ! If you make no mistakes it is possible to have a 100% uptime at ! As always you have &Bp4jAAA= as backup-.

    General Tips

Depending on how secure you feel with a “sword, you can also exchange it for a scepter to make sure you don’t trigger a black field.

Try to match your rotation to the Unnatural Signet! This means that you can hold back your burst rotation a bit if you know that the Unnatural Signet will appear in a few seconds!

&BrsjAAA= can be a very powerful DPS amplifier for you! If there are hands near the group, they will count as enemies and thus affect &BrsjAAA=! Pride and greed also count as enemies that affect your &BrsjAAA=!

So always try to be in the when you activate &BrsjAAA=. It is advisable to delay &BrsjAAA= a little, after you have been ported back, as the hands will slowly moveĀ  towards the middle and you can use this as a DPS amplifier!

    Split Phase

In the split phase, you can activate &Bg11AAA= to make sure your group doesn’t lose !

It’s important that you continue to play your normal rotation, so you don’t take any damage! Most of your skills will be ready when you’re ported back!

    -Uptime

The following attacks can cause you to lose your [:

    • pizza attack
    • &Bu2SAAA= (dome attack)
    • Auto-Attack
    • Explosion of Pride and Greed

It is possible to get a good uptime on , but this is quite exhausting and can often be very annoying.

You will have to block most or almost every of . unless you can make sure that you can directly generate through &Bp4jAAA= or &BnwjAAA=.

In addition, the &Bu2SAAA= (dome attack) will remove your whether you are in the dome or not! Therefore you always need to have &Bp4jAAA= or &BnwjAAA= ready for this!

    General Tips

With this boss it’s your task to take over one of the five pillars and carry it out, as you’ll hardly lose any damage. As a you should play a scepter in the second weapon set! If you play a clean rotation and start on the greatsword you’ll be on your scepter weapon set exactly when you have to take the pillar out!

Use &BngjAAA= to get to faster, after the split phase or after taking the column out. You can also use &BngjAAA= right at the beginning of the battle to get from your pillar to the boss.

Once the big eyes &BujaAAA= light up over you can use &BqBUAAA= because will get and you can avoid the damage you would normally get!

    -Uptime:

The following attacks can cause you to lose your :

    • auto attack
    • s mines
    • The shock wave of the pillars after they appear
    • The projectiles of the stone hands in the split phase
    • The shock wave after the sand wall

s attacks should usually not hit you if the tank turns away from the party fast enough.

Also the shock wave should normally not hit you if the pillars are carried far enough out!

The projectiles of the stone hands can be ignored by permanent a reflect or projectile destruction. Only the shockwave in the split is unavoidable.

Since you can’t influence many of the points yourself, our tip is to play only if you: a) have a good group or b) have a Boon-/ that can give you back very quickly through &Bqe/AAA=
