The is a specialization of the and can be played in both the power and condition variants. This guide deals with the power variant. It is characterized by a strong burst damage and high mobility. Due to the rotation, which requires fast execution, the lack of ranged attacks and the fact that the has low health and wears light armor, the is not really suitable for beginners. It takes a while and enough training until you can shine with this class, in raids, without problems.
As with the the also has 4 different attunements: &BnQVAAA=, &BnUVAAA=, &BnYVAAA=, &BncVAAA=. All four grant you different weapon skills when you are on that attunement. However, the has an unique feature that allows you to be attuned on two elements at once! We differentiate between the main attunement and the second attunement. Your weapon skills will adapt accordingly. I.e.: Main attunement -> Skill 1 and skill 2, second attunement -> skill 4 and skill 5. The third weapon skill (slot 3) will always adapt according to the combination of attunements. For this reason the has access to six more weapon skills.
The following combinations are possible, giving you a new weapon skill:
It does not matter which of your attunements is the main or secondary attunement. Beside the combinations you can logically also double attune yourself to one element. It always follows the same principal: The attunement you switch to will always be your main attunement. The attunement that were the main attunement will be your secondary attunement afterwards.
A small example:
Caution: You can change your attunement while using a skill! This won’t interrupt the skill itself! However, changing the attunement will interrupt the autoattack-chain if your main attunement changes. Because of this complex “attunement-mechanics” the himself is a really complex and difficult specialization for beginners!
Like the , the also has acces to summoning weapons. These work like an item that any other player can pick up and use. Once you carry a summoning weapon, your weapon skills will change! Each summoning weapon has special weapon skills! When you activate a summoning skill, a you throw one of these weapons to the ground where everybody can pick it up and a second one will be equipped directly into your hand and your weapon skills will change. These weapons are an important part of your rotation and must be picked up several times during a battle! This means you should ideally pick up your summoning weapons yourself during the battle!
Important summoning weapons for your build are:
The &BmYWAAA= is your most important utility skill, therefore you should really now this skill very well! &BmYWAAA= generates a storm on your targeted area. This storm is differs with your attunement (only the main attunement counts). Every storm has a different effect and a different cooldown, keep that in mind.
Important storms are:
All three storms can be useful in different situations. Therefore you should be aware when to use the right storm. The &BmoWAAA= is really useful when adds trouble your team. With this glyphe you can permanently them for a short time. Glenna can be safed with this glyphe too, while encountering the wargs in .
&BmkWAAA= vs &BmgWAAA=: Here it depends, beside your rotation (see rotation-video), on the boss phases! You have to decide yourself which glyphe gives you the most advantages in the situation you and your squad are in! Basically &BmkWAAA= inflicts more damage but has a greater cooldown. Should you need a great amount of burst in ~30 seconds and your glpyhe is ready right now, activate &BmgWAAA=, so you have &BmkWAAA= ready in 30 seconds.
Lightning Hammer vs Arcane Blast:
This decision also depends on the boss and the phases he has. If you have very short phases, &BqMVAAA= should be your best choice. You shoud only play &BvgVAAA= if one of two conditions occure. 1) The boss has a very big hitbox (like , or ) and 2) the boss shouldn’t have adds around him. The blasts from lightning hammer 4 (&Bl0WAAA=) can hit the adds in the surrounding area and therefore you hit the boss less or not at all! If you should need more CC &BvgVAAA= should be your choice, because lightning hammer 3 (&BmUWAAA=) inflicts damage.
Utility skill variations:
&Bs+sAAA=: Is a strong group-healing skill which provides &Bs+sAAA= to you and your group for a few seconds. Everyone heals with each auto-attack! (Internal cooldown 1 second)
&BsEVAAA=: should be used if you need “burst-heal” (a great amount if heal in a short time)
&BoMVAAA=: should be used if you need to remove conditions from yourself
It applies: If you need additional utility, which helps you surviving the fight, change &BvecAAA= with this skill!
&BqAVAAA=: is a teleport with a range of 900. It can be very useful for beginners in raids, if you have to get mechanics out
&BgkWAAA=: You gain 3 stacks of &BgkWAAA=, although you lose one stack with every attack. These 3 blocks can save your life.
&BrIVAAA=: you transform into a spiritform, in which you are
&BrKyAAA=: It is a strong stun-break which allows you to dodge attacks for 1 second and provides superspeed for a short time!
&Br8VAAA=: Has a strong burst and a strong CC with Frost Bow 5 (&BlkWAAA=). So if your squad needs more CC you can play with &Br8VAAA=! But you should change &BvgVAAA= for your &Br8VAAA=, because the rotation with 3 conjures can be very complicated!
Use &B94FAAA= instead of &B9YAAAA= against !
&B98FAAA= is another variant of the Power- and requires a different rotation (see build-guide). In most boss fights it is inferior to the normal &B+IAAAA=-rotation. However, every -player can decide for himself which rotations he/she wants to play, because the DPS isn’t that different. For experienced players: &B+IAAAA= is superior in every encounter but .
Pay attention to never interrupt your auto-attack-chain. It can result in a great DPS loss if you don’t. Here you should keep in mind that your auto-attack-chain will be interrupted if you change the main attunement!
Basically you can’t really interrupt your skills, so you can activate skills while your current skill is still casting.
In general the is, like explained in the introduction, a pretty tough class due to his low life pool and the light armor. Therefore you should try to dodge every amount of damage.
Use &BsavAAA=, &BpkVAAA=, &BkEWAAA= or &Bo0VAAA= for better mobility, to reach the boss faster! Keep in mind to target an enemy before you use &BpkVAAA= otherwise you can be far away from your group very fast. This can be deadly in bossfights like where you can fall off the platform.
&BpkVAAA= should always be used in the fire/air attunement because you gain both boons due to the double attunement and the trait &ByEIAAA=!
&BrYVAAA= can remove two conditions for you and your team.
If your group should need more CC, you can play &Bg4WAAA= -> &BjcWAAA= -> earth -> &BgOgAAA= (&Bte0AAA=) –> fire –> &BjoWAAA= beside other additional utility skills. This rotation can provide a good amount of additional CC without changing your rotation to much.
&Bm+1AAA= provides additional if needed.
If the boss is on a wall (like on the edge, or ) you can use &BkEWAAA= against the wall. This will be a great DPS increase! Furthermore you should always use &Bo0VAAA= in the hitbox of the boss because the fire path will provide additional damage.
&BvecAAA= should be used in the fire/air attunement shortly before changing to fire/fire attunement because you will get all ticks from &BvecAAA= in your fire attunement. For additional you can use &BvecAAA= in your fire/air attunement. Thus you gain on the boss (depending on how long you stay in this attunement). Though you will lose stacks, you would gain in the fire attunement.
As a good you shoud pay attention to place your AoE-spells on the right places, these can make a difference in every raid encounter! You should always place your AoE-skills in a position where every hit will connect to the boss or surrounding adds. If the boss moves around you should decide for yourself where the best place is to use your AoE-skills, so you hit as often as possible.
As it is pretty easy to precast weapon skills before a boss encounter.
The easiest skill to precast is &Bn0VAAA=. Here you start in air/fire. While activating &Bn0VAAA= you can change your attunement to air/air. Now you have to change your weapon set to sword/dagger as fast as possible. This needs some training so trying it at the golem is recommended.
The same princip applies to: &BjwWAAA=, &BqwVAAA= and &BvKqAAA=. Here you start with fire/earth, activate &BvKqAAA= -> &BqwVAAA= -> scepter mainhand -> &BjwWAAA= -> change to air/air.
A more complicated precast is the precast of “Arcane Lightning” you gain for 15 seconds because of the trait &BwcBAAA= by using an arcane skill. Therefore you equip the arcane traitline, equip sc name=”gw2embed” chatcode=”&BwcBAAA=” ], activate &BqMVAAA= and change back to the normal traitline. So you start with 150 for the first 15 seconds.
An easier precast is the &B1MIAAA=-precast. You gain a 10% damage buff for 8 seconds, when you double attune yourself to one element. Therefore you can start on air/fire before the fight begins and change to air/air before encountering the boss to gain the buff.
